My name is Petro Dudi and I’m an American expat (born and raised in Lynn, Massachusetts, USA) residing the last few decades in sunny Athens, Greece. My professional career revolves around Translation/Localization Program Management, ICT Consulting, Technical Writing/Copywriting and Software Quality Assurance (ISTQB-certified).
I’ve managed numerous software localization projects for Fortune 500 clients such as Microsoft (Windows Millennium, Windows Vista, Office XP & 2003, Project 2003, SMS 2003, IIS6 etc.), Apple, IBM/Lotus (Domino Server, Workplace Portal etc.), Adobe (Photoshop etc.), Symantec (Antivirus etc.), Oracle (StarOffice etc.), Siemens and so on.
In 2005 I participated in the EU-funded IGNITE consortium, representing Archetypon SA, along with Pass Engineering (of PASSOLO fame), VeriTest, Vivendi Games and the Localisation Research Centre (LRC) from the University of Limerick. IGNITE’s function was to work out a model for Localisation 2.0, by designing processes and frameworks for the certification of tools and technologies that promoted industry standards.
Lately, I’m involved in multiple European ICT projects from EU agencies/institutions such as the European Medicines Agency (EMA), the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), and the European Commission (EC). My tasks vary from IT consulting, user engagement/awareness and content writing, to technical/user support and quality assurance.
As a native English speaker, I’ve also written numerous technical documentation (User & System Manuals, White Papers, Tech Guides etc.) for diverse domains such as vertical software platforms, electronics, energy technology, telecoms etc. I’m also actively involved in copywriting & creative writing activities concerning marketing/sales/social media content.
My book Translation 101: Starting Out As A Translator is available at all major online retailers (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Lulu, iTunes Store, Smashwords, OverDrive etc.) in eBook and paperback format.
